While visitors of Mount Rushmore can attend several educational programs throughout the day, the ones around the Fourth of July have special events.

“We welcome visitors from around the country and the world to celebrate Independence Day. While visitors are here they can meet Presidential reenactors, enjoy indigenous culture barriers, enjoy our evening program and learn about the site.” Mount Rushmore Program Manager Earl Perez-Foust Said

“I think it’s pretty amazing and I think that you know, a lot of people kind of forget we have this kind of stuff here. Just right out your backdoor you can go and you can learn and all that kind of stuff and support your country and just have fun.” local Amy Fox Said

This two day Independence event is featuring thousands of different tourists and visitors that are taking part in the patriotic celebrations.

Mount Rushmore is an ideal location for those visiting from out of the country.

“It’s great. We’ve always seen it in pictures and in movies, so now I’m here in person and it’s great to see it.” Susanne Koenig, a visitor from Switzerland, said

Mount Rushmore is always a patriotic place, and events like these get everyone involved.

“There’s something here for everyone. People come here and they can see part of their story, their history, their journey represented. And as you just mentioned, you’ve got people across the ocean, but you also have people coming from across generations.” Perez-Foust Said

Mount Rushmore holds this two day event over the 3rd and 4th of July every year, so if you missed it this time, you can still see the event next summer.
