A Danville man and a Keeling woman were among three people arrested following search warrants executed at an illegal video gaming operation in Ruffin, NC. On Thursday the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office and the Caswell County Sheriff’s Office, along with assistance from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, executed a search warrant at 9900 US 29 Business in Ruffin, N.C. .

City council votes to raise salaries
The Emporia City Council received support for its proposition to raise councilor’s salaries during a public hearing on Tuesday, though not without discourse. The council last received a raise in 2006, when the former board voted to raise their monthly pay from $400 to $600. The proposed salary on Tuesday’s agenda was $10,000 for council members — almost a $3,000 increase — and $12,000 for the mayor.
