BLANCHARD, Okla. ( KFOR ) — Homeowner Gary Lytle is still dealing with flooding months after the city of Blanchard promised a solution.

“They just want to collect tax money and talk. Talk is cheap,” said Gary Lytle.

Lytle recorded the most recent flooding and said he’s fed up.

“I’m almost 71 years old and every time it floods, stuff from all upstream washes down here and ends up down here in a pile, wood debris and guess who gets to clean it up? Me,” he said.

He says the problem originates at the creek on the west side of his property.

The tinhorns flowing underneath the road are not big enough to accommodate the rain.

“If you put a bigger tinhorn in, it would definitely help,” said Lytle.

The Lytles have a storm shelter in their yard, but the last time the creek overflowed, it became submerged.

“It fills my storm shelter in the back,” said Lytle.

Lytle said he’s experienced this many times since he bought the home in 1990, but every time he contacts the city, he’s met with excuses.

“‘Can I talk to city manager?’ ‘Well, he’s not in,'” explained Lytle.

The city manager wasn’t available to go on camera Wednesday.

Lytle said he’s not holding his breath.

“They don’t they don’t care a bit about us out here or any of our property,” said Lytle.

The city sent News 4 the following statement in response to Lytle’s claims.
