SEQUOYAH COUNTY, Okla. (KNWA/KFTA) — Sequoyah County deputies are searching for the owner of a kangaroo after it was hit on the highway on Wednesday morning.

Deputy Jeff Neighbors noticed a kangaroo jump out of the woods. The kangaroo jumped onto the highway where it was struck by a vehicle.

“The driver thought he hit a deer,” the post reads. “but was shocked when Deputy Neighbors showed him that he hit a kangaroo!”

Deputies are asking the public to call the sheriff’s office at 918-775-1213 or 918-775-9155 with any information to the owner of the kangaroo.
