    Red Earth announces ‘Of Influence: Portraits of Cherokee People’ exhibit

    OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – The Red Earth Art Center announced on Thursday, the opening of
    an inspiring new exhibit “Of Influence: Portraits of Cherokee People.”

    The gallery will be open within the lobby of the BancFirst Tower to the public from May 13th to July 5th, Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

    This enriching collection of photographs from 1845 to the 1960s, is thanks to the Oklahoma
    History Center, the Oklahoma Historical Society and The National Endowment for the
    Humanities, according to Red Earth, Inc.

    “Of Influence: Portraits of Cherokee People” offers a curated collection of twenty-two
    photographs that bring to light notable Cherokee leaders, artists, and pivotal community figures,
    such as the respected Cherokee leader and Confederate Colonel William Penn Adair and
    honorary chief of the Sioux and Cherokee Nations, Rear Admiral “Jacko” Clark.

    The exhibit is set to showcase historical portraits with select Cherokee artifacts from the Red Earth collection, enhancing the narrative with tangible pieces of history that underscore the significant contributions and experiences of the Cherokee people.

    Red Earth, Inc. officials conclude, art enthusiasts will enjoy influential figures of the Cherokee through the intertwining of visual art and historical artifacts.
