    Staying safe as Oklahoma experiences heat and humidity

    OKLAHOMA CITY ( KFOR ) – The heat and humidity is intensifying. Residents are reminded to be mindful when spending time outside.

    KFOR Meteorologist Jon Slater says there is a dangerous combination of heat and humidity for Tuesday.

    He says with mostly sunny skies and breezy south winds, temperatures are warming into the 90s that may feel like like temps of 105 to 110+.

    According to the National Weather Service :

    • Limit outdoor activities
    • Drink plenty of water
    • Wear light clothing
    • Wear sunscreen
    • Work outdoors early or very late in the day

    As student go back to school, Slater says it’s important kids have ways to cool off if outside for school activities or staying late for football practice or band activities. Taking breaks from the high heat and staying hydrated are the keys to staying safe.
