OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Four people are recovering from gunshot wounds after Oklahoma City Police say a fight led to shots fired in a Bricktown crowd.

“Suspect ran north on Oklahoma,” said Oklahoma City Police officers over the radio.

At around 2 a.m. on Sunday, just as businesses started to close down for the night, chaos and panic unfolded at a crowded Bricktown intersection. Officers already on patrol heard the gunshots.

“One woman’s been shot at Sheridan and Oklahoma. I need EMSA and Fire,” an officer said on the scanner.

“Officers ran over to that area and saw a suspect shooting into a crowd of people,” said Capt. Valerie Littlejohn with OKCPD.

In all, officers said four people—two men and two women—were shot. They all suffered from non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect took off after firing and police followed.

“The officers went after that suspect, the suspect turned and had a gun. And at that time the officers discharged their firearms towards the suspect And at that time the officers discharged their firearms towards the suspect. They missed him but the suspect continued to run dropping the gun eventually and then ran a few more blocks,” said Capt. Littlejohn.

Police eventually chased down the suspect and took them into custody.

In an update on Monday afternoon, police say two suspects were involved in the incident. One suspect escaped, while another was detained and eventually released pending further investigation.

The officers who fired their weapons are now on routine paid administrative leave while the department investigates.

At this time, there are currently no suspects in custody in connection to the shooting. Anyone with information should call the Homicide Tip Line at 405-297-1200.
