SULPHUR, Okla. (KFOR) — A dream home quickly turned into a nightmare for a family in Sulphur.

Melissa Haskins and her husband Brian moved into their new home in February.

“My family is now in danger, and that’s very scary to say,” Haskin says.

She also adds, “This is our dream to buy acres of land, to put a home that we’re going to raise our children on.”

Melissa and Brian’s dream is slowly fading.

They say their house is covered in what they think is black mold.

The mold is also in their kids’ rooms, they say.

“My children are in danger because the mold is between their bedrooms, it’s in their bedrooms,” says Haskin.

The couple says the problems started with a bad roof.

Haskin says, “There were over 300 nails on our roof which was susceptible to leaks everywhere, everywhere through our walls, in our house.”

Adding, “We have no idea how much water has gotten into our walls and into our home.”

The couple has reached out to Champion Homes, the manufacturer of their home.

Haskin says, “They kept telling us we didn’t have a leak.”

News 4 called Champion Homes and sent an email about the family’s situation.

A woman told me on the phone that she could not comment, but said the company takes the issue very seriously and will reach out to Melissa and Brian.

News 4 received an email from another viewer who said they’ve tried to contact Champion Homes for nearly 6 years to fix their issues.

They mentioned having mold in their home and leaky roof.

Haskins says the clock is ticking.

“Where does Champion come in and say our customers matter? Our families customers matter?
