NORMAN, Okla. ( KFOR ) — VisitNorman and Campus Corner Association have announced a new addition to Norman’s gameday tradition, Crimson Friday Concerts.

The new initiative for the University of Oklahoma, as OU transitions into the Southeastern Conference (SEC), looks to create an experience that fans and visitors can both enjoy for gameday.

“We are committed to maintaining the cherished traditions of gameday while introducing new ones that will enhance the overall experience for our fans,” said Dan Schemm, President & CEO of VisitNorman. “The Crimson Friday Concerts are our way of welcoming SEC fans to Norman and showcasing the unique energy and hospitality of our city.”

Historic Campus Corner has been the cornerstone of OU’s gameday festivities, having drawn in over 83,000 fans every football weekend. The new tradition looks to raise that bar even more to new heights.

Crimson Friday Concerts will take place every Friday before home games, taking to the streets of White Street and Asp Avenue through music, school spirit, and the community.

Live music performances, pep rallies, and a festive atmosphere will be featured for the concerts, extending into game days on Saturdays, including the main stage staying in place throughout the weekend.

Members of the Pride of Oklahoma marching band and the OU Spirit Squads will also grace the new tradition with special appearances, bringing even more school spirit to the event before OU takes the field on gamedays.

“By incorporating the Pride of Oklahoma and the Spirit Squads into the Crimson Friday Concerts, we’re not only celebrating our athletic traditions but also the spirit and pride that define the University of Oklahoma,” Schemm added.

“The University of Oklahoma joining the SEC is more than just a shift in college sports—it’s a game-changer for local businesses. The influx of fans and national attention will boost the economy, creating new opportunities for growth and community pride, while cementing Oklahoma’s place in the heart of college football’s most competitive conference,” said Campus Corner President, Michael Friedman. “The addition of Crimson Friday Concerts to our Gameday Celebration will be a monumental move for Campus Corner, making it a must-visit destination for locals and out-of-town visitors alike.”

The first Crimson Friday Concerts will be held August 30 starting at 1 p.m. with Hosty performing followed by Superfreak performing at 3 p.m.
