    ORIGINAL STORY

ENID, Okla. (KFOR) — Two men have been booked on first-degree murder complaints after a body was reportedly discovered in the cellar of a Enid residence on Tuesday.

Enid Police say their detectives discovered human remains in the cellar of a home near North 12th Street and East Ash Avenue on August 27. Detectives reportedly found the body while following a lead in a missing persons investigation.

While police are still waiting for official confirmation from the Medical Examiner’s Office, they believe the victim is 27-year-old Colby Sheppard, who was reported missing on January 4 .

As a result of the ongoing investigation, 45-year-old Victor Battelo and 55-year-old Charles Jordan were booked on first-degree murder complaints. Both were already being held in the Cleveland County Detention Facility on unelated charges.

Detectives believe there may be additional suspects involved in Sheppard’s death.

According to police, evidence suggest Sheppard was killed in retaliation for his rumored involvement in the disappearance of Kendra Battelo, who has been missing since 2022. However, Enid Police say there is still no definitive proof in the case that proves this allegation.

Police have it mistaken on crime rate. Just because you lock up a bunch of brothas in the Ville or on the Eastside doesn't lower crime rate. You replaced all the areas I knew with a ENTIRELY DIFFERENT NATIONALITY OF PEOPLE. Yet, there is still these type of crimes that SUPERCEDED the crimes of the "black and red" communities. Take away all the fun places, shutting teenage outlets off and pushed "The Pipeline from school to prisons" with the ZERO TOLERANCE RULE THAT STARTED IN 96'...97'. Enid is not and HAS NOT been a place to do anything fun in decades.
