OKLAHOMA CITY ( KFOR ) — A woman who lives in an apartment complex with Section 8 tenants is asking News 4 for help after she said water and sewage is spilling into her home. She said the smell is unbearable.

“You know, why is this happening,” said Shawntay Manuel who has water and sewage seeping in.

Shawntay Manuel said she’s lived in Council Trails apartments for five years and has never had an issue of water and sewage seeping through the floor of her apartment.

These photos are from April this year when the problem started.

“We just came in the house and it was just water everywhere. It was stinking. And then all of a sudden it was started to back up in our showers. It was poop in there,” said Manuel.

She said maintenance fixed it temporarily, but water seeped through again in May.

That’s when she said she asked maintenance, “what’s going on?”

“He was like, it’s the main pipeline that’s backed up. So when people upstairs flush, it comes down to yours and it just pushes everything together,” said Manuel.

    It doesn’t end there, though.

Manuel said water flooded again on August 11th, then again last Friday. This time, she said it seeped into her carpet in the bedroom.

“I tried to call Friday, they was already out of office for the holidays,” said Manuel.

Manuel is now rearranging her apartment and putting some things in storage until it gets cleaned up.

“I can’t afford certain things, you know? And plus I have three kids. I have a one year old. All my kids plus me have asthma. I’m a single parent,” said Manuel.

News 4 tried to go to the office, but they were closed for the Labor Day holiday. We also tried to send a message, and the email listed on the website did not go through.

We will follow up on Tuesday.

serious health hazard for you and your kids. I'd call the apartments head office and threaten them with a call from my attorney.
