    Man dies after near drowning at Lake Thunderbird

    CLEVELAND COUNTY, Okla. ( KFOR ) – A man has passed away after he was left in critical condition from nearly drowning at Lake Thunderbird on Monday, September 2 .

    According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the incident happened at the Little Axe Campgrounds around 2:30 p.m. on Labor Day.

    Officials said that the victim, identified as 50-year-old Curtis Kaanapo, was swimming at the beach when he started to struggle and asked for help.

    Eventually, he was pulled to shore by a bystander who started CPR until Park Rangers and EMS could get there. He was then taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

    According to OHP, Kaanapo later died on Tuesday, September 3.

    sorry for the family did he drown because sounds he might if had a heart attack or something going into distress and asking for Help
