MIDWEST CITY, Okla. ( KFOR ) — A woman in Midwest City is baffled after her car was stolen twice within 48 hours.

She lives at The Lodge at 777 and both times her car was stolen, it was locked inside the gated apartment complex.

“The Tuesday after Labor Day, I woke up in the morning to take my son to school and my vehicle is gone,” Jessica Gray, tenant at The Lodge at 777 said.

Gray’s car stolen in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Not even 12 hours later and they found her car abandoned at a park in Midwest City.

She thought the chaos was over, but not even 48 hours later, it happened again.

“So, after that, good to go, I brought my vehicle back home,” Gray said. “Then one night, it was fine. The next night my car was gone again.”

Gray lives in a gated apartment complex and is not sure how the thieves got in.

“There is an area where they pried the fencing apart, and there’s a low point to that fencing where they could probably, like, hop over,” Gray said.

We spoke with Midwest City Police who declined an interview, but sent us a statement saying in part, “The vehicle was last seen the previous night and the owner stated it had been locked and the owner was in possession of the only key. At 1:30am it was captured on a Flock camera at E Reno and Sooner Rd.”

We also spoke with the apartment complex, who said off camera they are working with police and have video footage of the suspects leaving the complex in Gray’s car.

They also said this is the first time anything like this has ever happened.

However, both the complex and Gray believe it could be part of a TikTok trend where videos are being posted explaining how to break into a Kia.

“There was multiple people in the car,” Gray said. “So, that to me that indicates teenagers. My car smelled like marijuana, indicates teenagers. There were things in the vehicle too that were valuable that they didn’t steal. That also indicates young adults or teenagers that are just taking my car.”

Gray says the complex told her they are going to fix the fencing in the back, and are also giving her a month free in a garage parking space.

Gray just hopes to get her car back in one piece, and for this to stop happening.

“I rely on my transportation to get my son to school, to pick him up every morning,” Gray said. “So, it really has put a big damper because if I don’t recover my vehicle this time, it’s going to be a little bit before I can get another vehicle.”

Midwest City PD ask you to call them if you come across the vehicle.
