MAYSVILLE, Okla. ( KFOR ) – Three people were hurt in an explosion at a pipeline west of the town of Maysville, Oklahoma Wednesday morning.

Fire crews and emergency officials from more than four neighboring towns responded to the scene around 8:45 a.m. at the Enerfin Resources pipeline substation.

ORIGINAL STORY: Three injured in Maysville explosion

“This (substation) basically takes gas from the field and separates the liquids out, and then the gas goes on to sale,” said Brent Warton, director of mainstream operations for Enerfin Resources.

Authorities said three people were burned and taken by helicopter to Oklahoma City area hospitals.

“They responded very quickly. There were three injured and they got all three,” said David Johnson, director of Garvin Count Emergency Management.

Warton said the three who were burned were the only three on site.

“We talked to two of them and the third one is communicating through some other people so they’re all at least able to communicate,” said Warton.

The three victims have not been identified.

Neighbors living close by said they heard a loud boom, and their home started to shake. The fire scorched a large section of grass near the site.

“It caught an area about a hundred yards in diameter. The flash went that far so a lot of brush and a lot of grass,” said Johnson. “Also, a couple of vehicles that were involved and a trailer house that was involved.”

Authorities said the home only suffered minor damage and no one inside was hurt.

The investigation to determine a cause is expected to two to three days.
