CORDELL, Okla. ( KFOR ) – According to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, two people have been arrested following the death of a two-year-old.

The OSBI says the Cordell Police Department requested the bureau’s help on December 29, 2023, regarding a suspicious death of a child.

Earlier that day, officers responded to a residence in Cordell after receiving reports of a child not breathing. Upon arrival, officers found the child and began life-saving measures before he was taken to the hospital where he later died.

The child’s father, 37-year-old Jerrid Page Johnson, and maternal grandmother, 63-year-old Kathleen Mary Green, were at the residence when officers arrived. Special agents interviewed them both and began investigating.

On August 14, 2024, the OSBI says the child’s autopsy was complete and the probable cause of death was listed as acute fentanyl toxicity.

On September 11, 2024, the Washita County District Court issued a felony murder warrant for both Johnson and Green. They later turned themselves in to the Washita County Sheriff’s Office on Second-Degree Murder charges.
