OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — The Oklahoma State Fair is open now until September 22. Within just a few hours of the gates opening, the fairgrounds were packed.

“What’s the number one thing you guys look forward to?” News 4 asked.

“The rides and the food,” said Jaxi Stewart.

“All the rides,” said Alyssa Hill. “The face paint.”

During opening day at the Oklahoma State Fair, people were either eating, drinking, or had their eyes on the rides.

“What’s your favorite thing at the fair?” News 4 asked.

“The rollercoasters,” said a child named Jerrick.

“I like the Ferris wheel,” said Titan Stewart. “It just goes high and it’s really fun,” said his sister Jaxi.

The rides at the fair aren’t just mechanical.

“It’s called a living carousel, you can’t call it a pony ride,” said Scott Munz with the fair.

If you can stomach it between the rides, now is not time for a diet. Everyone has their favorites.

“If it’s on a stick it’s a hit,” said Munz.

    “Turkey legs!” said Vidam Hammud.

    “A hot dog,” said Titan.

“I like the drinks, the fruity drinks for some reason,” said Hill.

Some take their food passion to a whole new level, like the self-proclaimed “Corn Man” who goes by many names.

“The chaotic corn eater,” said Marty Peterson. “I come here and I just crush the food.”

He’s originally from Iowa and tries to eat as much corn as possible.

“You eat corn before you eat baby food,” said Peterson.

This is his sixth corn on the cob of the day. He’ll make room for more.

“We do the salt and pepper really heavy and then an illegal amount of butter,” said Peterson.

Meanwhile, vendors are taking their cooking to new extremes with food you’ll only find at the fair, like the donut burger.

“It’s a donut, we cut it in half we grill it. And then it gets bacon and cheese and topped with stuff,” said Damien Roberts of Porky’s BBQ.

The Bronut is also making it’s debut this year.

“We have a brisket that we make that we throw on top of it. We put on pickeled onions that we freshly make. We have pickles on it and a jalapeno drizzle we put on it,” said Matthew Varnadoe of Fryday.

“I think a lot of it is concocted when they’re in their trailer when bad weather is in play and there’s not a lot of people around,” said Munz.

When you go, you’ll find a little bit of everything.

“There’s too much to see and do in one day,” said Munz.
