    Susan G. Komen preps for MORE THAN PINK walk Oct. 19

    OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – Susan G. Komen event organizers are gearing up to raise awareness in uniting communities for breast Cancer research and support hosting a MORE THAN PINK walk scheduled October 19.

    The MORE THAN PINK walk is expected to bring together survivors, supporters and advocates to raise critical funds to support Komen’s mission in assisting individuals with support and resources while facing the disease.

    In 2024 alone, Susan G. Komen leaders announced, an estimated 3,490 women in Oklahoma will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 570 will lose their lives to the disease. Additionally, every 12 minutes, a woman in the U.S. dies from breast cancer.

    According to event organizers, in 2024, the Susan G. Komen mission impact demonstrated:

    • Komen Financial Assistance program provided assistance totaling $111,500 to 197 people in Oklahoma for breast cancer treatment or those living with metastatic breast cancer
    • Komen’s Patient Care Center provided 405 services to 339 people living in Oklahoma for breast health care or support they need
