    39-year-old Canadian County Jail inmate dies after being found unresponsive in cell

    EL RENO, Okla. (KFOR) — An inmate in the Canadian County Jail has died after being found unresponsive in his cell on Wednesday.

    According to the Canadian County Sheriff’s Office, 39-year-old Daryl Hediger was arrested by El Reno Police on Saturday after having two warrants out for his arrest in Canadian County and another in Oklahoma County.

    Hediger was found unresponsive in his cell by jailers on the following Wednesday, and later died after being take to the hospital.

    Former deputy pleads guilty to shooting, killing wife

    The sheriff’s office said that Hediger had a black eye from a fight prior to his arrest, and an alleged drug or alcohol addiction.

    Based on video footage from his cell, investigators say Hediger was alone and so far there are no signs of foul play by another inmate or a detention officer.

    Hediger’s cause of death is still under investigation.
