“We came back and there was three officers standing up at our car. They had let us know then that we had been the victim of a break in,” said Kirkpatrick. “I was terrified. I was scared. I was hurt.”
The thieves busted out the passenger side window and stole Kirkpatrick’s purse.
“I started crying because I ran to the car and immediately looked in the window and my bag was gone,” said Kirkpatrick.
But thanks to a good Samaritan, Kirkpatrick’s purse was later found in a ditch just a few miles down the road.
The only thing missing was her drivers license and medical marijuana card.
“There was no cash in my wallet or anything. It was literally just my bag and wallet that had personal identification,” said Kirkpatrick.
Kirkpatrick’s vehicle was one of two that were broken into at the park.
Stillwater Police Lieutenant T.J Low said they’ve responded to 122 car burglaries since January.
“43 of those have had their windows busted out and stuff taken from inside,” said Low.
Low said 19 guns have been stolen from vehicles this year and so far only five have been found.
“It’s just anything they can get their hands on,” said Low.
Low said car break-ins have happened throughout the city and if you see something, say something.
“Just don’t leave any valuables in your car that you don’t want taken. Call 911 if you see something suspicious around,” said Low.
Stillwater Police said now that college is back in session, a lot of the recent break-ins have happened at apartment complexes.

It wouldn't be surprising if it was an organized group from one of the bigger cities within a four or five hour drive. As it gets harder to work in their own towns as they ruin them, they look for easier targets. Looters should still be shot. I miss being able to leave my house unlocked and the car keys in the ignition. I remember when I started locking my front door here back in the eighties when one of scumbag code enforcement officers opened my door and was standing on my front porch when I pulled up and swore that he had stopped because the tag on my other car was out and the front door of the house was already open when he got there.
