    EUFAULA, Okla. (KFOR) – The Oklahoma Historical Society (OHS) is highlighting Oklahoma’s largest lake located in southeastern Oklahoma near the city of Eufaula.

    According to OHS, Lake Eufaula dam was dedicated on September 25, 1964, with President Lyndon B. Johnson in attendance. The dam created Oklahoma’s largest capacity lake.

    Other Headlines

    Congress approved the project on the Canadian River in 1946 to help with flood control, water supply and more. Construction on the dam took eight years.

    Today the lake offers fishing, golfing, boating and other outdoor activities. There are also private campgrounds.
