NORMAN, Okla. (KFOR) — On Thursday morning, Norman Public Schools broke ground on a new stadium for Norman North High School.

The district previously unveiled plans for the stadium in May that included renderings of what they expect the finished facility to look like.

“This stadium is more than just a venue for football games,” said Dr. Nick Migliorino, NPS Superintendent. “It’s a testament to our commitment to providing top-notch facilities for all our students. From the band, cheer and pom teams, football and soccer teams, this multi-use stadium will elevate the student experience and create lasting memories for generations of Timberwolves.”

The new stadium will include features such as:

    • Seating for 5,000 home fans and 500 away visitors
    • Home stands facing east to avoid sun glare
    • New central parking lot
    • State-of-the-art lighting and signage
    • Concession areas with game visibility

The $24 million project was approved as part of a 2023 bond project, and is expected to be completed by the 2025 football season.

You know what I always like about these ground breakings? All these people that think there’s somebody have a nice tidy little fresh dirt to use their new shovel on.And they all were hardhats. The only time that you were a hardhat in the construction field is when you’re working around heavy equipment or at or below ground level.Unless you’re afraid of an airplane falling on you, and I don’t think it’s gonna help all that much.
