OKLAHOMA CITY ( KFOR ) — Could this 3-year-old athlete named Georgia Grace, already the fastest bulldog in Oklahoma, actually be the fastest in the United States?

“He naps well,” chuckles trainer Kelly Rosson, who nevertheless insists her dog has it in her.

“She still has the drive, and the want to, and I can’t stop her from chasing squirrels at home.”

As if you need proof that her dog is special — look no further than a table full of ribbons in Rosson’s office detailing her extensive qualifications; not just for speed but as a photography model, therapy dog, actor, and sprinter.

“She was in a musical at UCO, ‘Legally Blonde’,” Rosson boasts. “We like to show the diversity of the bulldog.”

Her entry into an invitation only match race against the four other fastest bulldogs mean she really has something to train for.

“This will be the first time that a bulldog from Oklahoma has been invited.”

Georgia Grace is lean for a bulldog and she lives with a greyhound and whippet so she stays that way.

She’s coming off of a couple of knee surgeries but that doesn’t stop her.

“On any given day,” she cautions. “The dog has the heart, and the drive, and one of us will be crowned the winner.”

Their training regimen includes at least 15 minutes of cardio every day.

Georgia Grace’s chief motivation, other than treats, is any nearby squirrel.

Oklahoma’s fastest bulldog is trying to peak at the right time in a test of speed that has her on the brink of something no other bulldog has ever done.

Kelly and Georgia Grace are headed for the Fifth Annual AKC FastCAT Invitational in Wilmington, Ohio.

The fastest dogs of every breed will compete October 8 through October 12.

The team is looking for sponsors as well.
