OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – The Oklahoma County Detention Center (OCDC) says, one of its detention officers has been arrested after an investigation led to a charge of embezzlement.

Investigators say the money was to be deposited into the inmate’s trust account; however, once the inmate was released, the money could not be located.

Officials say the investigation also revealed Sharp confessed to taking money from several different inmates over the last several months, totaling more than $2,000.

“We are deeply disappointed by the actions of this individual, as they do not reflect the values or standards of the Oklahoma County Detention Center,” said Brandi Garner, CEO of the Oklahoma County Detention Center. “In recent months, we have taken steps to enhance and expand our Criminal Investigations Division to swiftly respond, identify and address any illegal activities inside the jail. By investing in the strength and expertise of this division, we are reinforcing our dedication to maintaining a safe, secure, and accountable environment for everyone in our care.”

OCDC says, Sharp’s employment has been terminated and he has been booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on a $3,000 bond.
