NORMAN, Okla. ( KFOR ) — A mother described to News 4 the moments when her teenage son was stabbed in Norman a week ago.

Christina Penn received a scary phone call no mother ever wants to receive.

“I was terrified to hear first thing in the morning that my son was at a trauma hospital for a stab wound,” said Penn.

Penn said her 16-year-old son was stabbed by a reportedly homeless man in Norman near Peters Avenue a little over a week ago.

She said that her son was out with a friend the night of September 27 and that they met a homeless man walking near them.

“They were hanging out for a few hours and things got scary. He said he was smoking. What he assumed to be was meth. And then he just his whole demeanor changed,” said Penn.

That scary turn caused her son to run for his life.

Penn said, “The guy started chasing him, and then he fell. And that’s when the guy stabbed him and then stabbed him again.”

In an affidavit from the Norman Police Department, it detailed that the victim, Penn’s son had a stab wound on his right thigh and hand.

The suspect was 41-year-old David Johnson. Police said that he was arrested the night of the incident and taken to the Cleveland County Jail.

Authorities reported that the knife Johnson used was found on Crawford Avenue, just south of Main Street.

Penn said her son is now recovering.

“He’s got minimal restrictions, so he can do pretty much whatever he wants to. He’s healing up nicely,” said Penn.

Johnson was in the Cleveland County Jail as of October 6th with a bond set at $100,000.
