ANADARKO, Okla. ( KFOR ) — This week, News 4 is honoring a loyal viewer; a man from Anadarko who watches every morning, who did an extraordinary thing when he discovered a fellow fan in need.

Every morning Oklahoma’s most loyal television audience settles in for news and fun.

“We are ‘Rise and Shiners.’ We watch the show every morning,” said Elizabeth Strider.

Rise and Shiners share an unique bond. They are connected through the airwaves on CW43.

“We’re a community,” said Strider. “We support each other. People are praying for each other. People are hanging out and just spending time together.”

Strider hit her decade watch-a-versary awhile ago, and recently she was touched to learn about an extraordinary kindness.

Chris Spence-Stockton opened his home for his Rise and Shine friend, Michael Ross, during his time of need.

“He showed up at the hospital and basically informed them that I was going to come home with him,” Ross said.

Two months ago Ross was hospitalized.

    Spence-Stockton came to the rescue.

“He is one of the nicest guys I know,” Strider said. “He’s always doing things for other people. He doesn’t ask for anything in return.”

We shared their story last month on KFOR.

Elizabeth Strider nominated Spence-Stockton for Pay It 4ward .

“We are so happy to present Christiopher with $400 today,” said First Fidelity Bank’s Caitlin Melgar “We love his heart, and the way he gives back to others. He’s the reason our community is becoming a better place to live.”

News 4 and Elizabeth Strider surprised Christopher Spence-Stockton at his home with $400 to honor a virtual friendship that blossomed in real life.

Elizabeth presented the award, “You’ve just gone above and beyond. You opened up your home to a friend. I know you’ve been through a lot. You do things for other people. You don’t ask for anything in return.”

Ross actually thought about nominating Spence-Stockton himself, but he was worried his nomination might break our one rule: no nominations from family members.

“I’ve already listed him as my little brother,” Ross said.

“I’m honored,” said Spence-Stockton. “I’m very honored. I just do what I feel like I’m supposed to do, share the love of Jesus with people.”

News 4 and First Fidelity Bank honor Christopher Spence-Stockton for paying it forward.

Pay it 4Ward is sponsored by First Fidelity Bank.
