DAVIS, Okla. ( KFOR ) – The Red River Rivalry promises to be a big showdown at the Cotton Bowl on Saturday. Sooner fans are already hitting the road, stopping at the annual Bevo Bash.

This year, the event was held at the Treasure Valley Casino in Davis, Oklahoma. It’s a playful name centered around the mascot of the University of Texas, Bevo.

“Because we’re cooking up the Bevo beef,” said Bill McCullough.

McCullough has been to 61 OU-Texas games. He loves the Red River Rivalry.

“Hey, it gives me something to live for,” he said.

McCullough has some years on the younger fans who claim to have been Sooner fans from the start.

“How long have you been a Sooner fan?” News 4 asked Walker Sanders. “Since I was in the hospital,” he said. “When you were born?” asked News 4. “Yes.” he answered.

For others, like Eli and Scott Montgomery, it’s a 26th birthday gift.

“When they got in trouble they had to put orange on,” said the twin’s father, Scott Montgomery.

“We’ve had great quarterbacks from Sam Bradford to Baker Mayfield to Kyler to Jalen. So, we’ve always been spoiled. The quarterback situation is going to be fun to watch,” said Eli Montgomery.

The Texas Longhorns are the double digit favorites to win. However, fans are hoping to bring Oklahoma a big southeastern conference win.

“We got a feelin’ and we think we’re going to be able to pull this one out,” said Chaz Medina.

“I think we’re going to win by 70,” said Sanders. “I think Texas is overrated.”

Others just can’t wait to feel the spirit of the game.

“I just like the players and how they play,” said Grant Beverage.

“I like everything, every single thing you can think of I like doing,” said Sanders.

All it takes is a little bit of Sooner Magic.

“We took off our shirts off last weekend in the hopes that we were going to win and we won, I guess you can call that sooner magic,” said Medina.
