OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Alan Kimberlin says he was taken into questioning for a crime he didn’t commit.

ORIGINAL STORY: One killed in NW Oklahoma City shooting

“I honestly thought I was going to get booked for murder,” Kimberlin said.

Friday night, Oklahoma City Police say they were called to an apartment complex near Northwest 19th and Minnie Lane.

“Police arrived, found one victim shot here in the parking lot,” said Sgt. Dillon Quirk from OKCPD.

Authorities say the victim was pronounced dead shortly after police got to the scene.

Sgt. Quirk said, “We don’t have any information regarding the victim, no name at this time.”

Kimberlin lives in the Parkview Flats with family.

He’s now reflecting back on what happened with News 4.

“I got a phone call from a buddy of mine, and he needed a battery. I put my shoes on and got ready to go and I left,” said Kimberlin.

Shortly after walking outside, he said he was approached by police.

Kimberlin said, “All I know is there were cops outside the apartment complex, and I got stopped and got detained until about 2:00 yesterday morning.”

Friday night, Oklahoma City Police mentioned detaining people.

Sgt. Quirk said, “We have taken some people down to police headquarters to be interviewed. They did have some witnesses they wanted to speak with and had detained some people.”

Kimberlin was one of those detainees and later released.

“They really didn’t say anything. They just told me to let them know if I hear anything or see anything or anything like that,” said Kimberlin.

Authorities say the victims killer is still out there.

“It’s very early in the investigation. We don’t have any suspects or any persons arrested,” said Sgt. Quirk.
