    70-year-old Shawnee man dies after Logan County crash

    GUTHRIE, Okla. ( KFOR ) – A 70-year-old Shawnee man was killed after a Sunday morning crash in Logan County.

    The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported that 70-year-old David Irving Smith was driving a 2022 semi-truck north on I-35 Sunday around 9 a.m.

    A 2002 International MA025 unoccupied truck was parked on the outside shoulder.

    Smith’s truck reportedly left the roadway around I-35 North at mile marker 156 in Guthrie. For an unknown reason, his vehicle went to the right and struck the unoccupied truck.

    OHP reported that Smith was pronounced dead on the scene of the crash.

    Officials said that seatbelts were equipped and in use and the airbags deployed. The weather was said to have been clear and the roadway dry.
