OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — The clock is ticking, a bid proposal for 55,000 Bibles going into Oklahoma schools ends Monday afternoon at 1:00.

$3 million could go from OSDE payroll to 55,000 Bibles

The proposal was laid out at the end of September, shortly after the Oklahoma State Department of Education announced three million dollars being used for Bibles in Oklahoma classrooms.

That money could possibly come from OSDE payroll.

Representative Mark McBride said, “It was not in the previous year and was not voted on. So I that money was not appropriated for that purpose.”

The bidding is for anyone interested in providing the 55,000 Bibles for state classrooms.

OSDE is currently in the middle of a lawsuit filed by parents, teachers and faith leaders from across the state. They are asking the Oklahoma Supreme Court to block these funds.

OSDE’s RFP (Request for Proposal) has requirements.

The Bible has to be the King James Version, include the United States Constitution, and it has to have the Bill of Rights, Pledge of Allegiance, the Declaration of Independence and both the Old and New testaments.

This is ridiculous, the funds would be better used for something else. If they have a bible they need to have every other teligion —Koran or bible.
