    BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — On this week’s segment of Weather Wednesday Kevin Charette and Elaina Rusk discuss Kern’s brutal summer heat and break down the county’s heat records.

    For the first time in nine months, parts of California returned to close drought levels near northern parts of the Golden State.

    Weather Wednesday: Wildfire season

    The longest streak of 100-degree days for the month of July in Kern’s history was back in 2021 with a 28-day streak.

    While the longest streak of 100-degree days or greater in Bakersfield was 50 days from July 1 through August 19, 1906.
