Officials said the partnering with the Kern County Sheriff’s Office will address roadway violence and criminal activity.

CHP officials say a deputy from the sheriff’s office has been assigned to the Kern County Auto Theft Task Force and a CHP officer will join the Kern County High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas Task Force.

Since the start of the collaboration with Bakersfield police, CHP has made over 1,000 arrests, recovered nearly 450 stolen vehicles and seized 20 illegal firearms.
