BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The heat wave will peak this Wednesday in Kern County. Brace yourselves for scorching temperatures, with highs expected to reach a minimum of 107 degrees this afternoon.

There is a possibility of temperatures soaring to 112 degrees in the desert regions. Make sure to stay hydrated and apply sunscreen. An Excessive Heat Warning will remain in effect until 9 p.m. Wednesday.

However, relief is in sight as temperatures will gradually decrease to the lower 100s this weekend, settling in the upper mid to upper 90s early next week. Just a heads up, air quality is currently unhealthy for sensitive groups. Stay safe and stay cool.
