BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A Superior Court judge on Wednesday denied a defense motion seeking to modify a protective order brought against a woman accused of using a stun gun on her autistic adult son.

Judge David Wolf denied the motion without prejudice and said a new motion could be filed on behalf of Tisa Armijo regarding visits with her minor son — who is also autistic.

The protective order only lists the adult son, who has the mindset of a 2-year-old, according to court filings.

The motion, filed by defense attorney Mark Anthony Raimondo, sought supervised visits for Armijo and the adult son, who’s currently housed in a locked facility at Kern Medical.

According to the motion, the son “often cannot control his frequently violent and aggressive behavior” — and the allegations against Armijo resulted from a violent outburst on his part.

The motion also asked a no contact order be lifted regarding Armijo’s minor son, stating there were “no allegations of aberrant conduct or violent conduct with respect to him.”

In a filing opposing the motion, prosecutor William Mord laid out the allegations against Armijo — including that she admitted previously pepper-spraying the adult son and keeping him in a locked room — and said it was in the best interests of both sons that the protective order not be modified.

Following brief remarks Wednesday by Mord and defense attorney Eric Le, who works with Raimondo, Wolf denied the motion.

Last month, security guards and a nurse at Kern Medical reported seeing Armijo use a stun gun on the adult son in a pre-operating room. Police detained Armijo in the hospital’s parking lot and found the weapon in her purse.

“(Armijo) expressed surprise that hospital personnel reported her to the police as she believed they had no issues with her using the stun gun on (her son), as she had used it the day prior in the emergency room waiting room,” a court filing says.

Armijo is charged with felony counts of causing injury to a dependent adult and false imprisonment with violence, and a misdemeanor count of being a felon in possession of a stun gun. Her next court hearing is scheduled in October.
