Sgt. Martinez suffered ‘unknown medical condition’: City of Shafter

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A day after the death of Shafter Police Sgt. Moises Martinez, City of Shafter officials announced Thursday he suffered an unknown medical emergency at his residence.

Shafter officials said there is no evidence of foul play or suspects associated with Martinez’s medical emergency, City officials said through a news release.

Emergency crews arrived and rendered medical assistance, but the life-saving measures were not enough to save the sergeant’s life. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

City officials are once again asking for privacy for Sgt. Martinez’s family as they handle their heartbreaking loss.
