Dr. Jasmeet Bains “Grow Your Own” bill advances to Governor’s office

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The “Grow Your Own” bill –authored by Assemblywoman Dr. Jasmeet Bains of Delano–is heading to Governor Gavin Newsom’s desk.

AB 2357 represents a commitment to build a University of California medical school in Kern County. The bill would create an endowment in the California State Treasury that would allow multiple sources to the medical school’s initial and ongoing funding.

The bill received a strong endorsement from the California State Senate, and was reaffirmed by the California State Assembly Thursday.

If signed into law, AB 2357 would create an endowment fund.
