BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Kern County Sheriff’s Office determined a fatal shooting in Onyx was within department standards and identified the suspect killed in the shooting.

Officials say they were called to the 8000 block of Melody Lane on Aug. 5 to serve a temporary domestic violence restraining order and a move-out order for Austin Stringer, 25.

Deputies were then dispatched to the same location on Aug. 7 around 8 a.m. for an investigation regarding a restraining order violation.

Springer was found in a camping trailer at the rear of the property on Melody Lane. Deputies attempted to contact Springer multiple times, according to officials.

An officer-involved shooting then happened. Springer was killed in the shooting.

Officials say Springer pointed a Crosman CO2 BB gun at deputies.
