‘Kool & The Gang’ returns to the 2024 Kern County Fair on opening day

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — When the 2024 Kern County Fair returns one of the ‘koolest’ bands around will take the stage at the Budweiser Pavilion on opening night.

Legendary “Kool & The Gang” returns to Bakersfield to celebrate the kickoff of the fair on Wednesday, Sept. 18.

The band, which has been around since the 1960s, continues to tour and will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in October.

17 News spoke with the only surviving original band member Robert “Kool” Bell about why he looks forward to playing at the Kern County Fair.

“One of the things at fairs is family. You see kids there from 5 years old all the way up to 85 years old. They’re there to have fun, and people just want to have fun. and we bring the fun,” the co-founder of Kool & The Gang said.

The Kern County Fair runs from Sept. 18 to the 29.

“Kool & The Gang’s” concert, and performances are included with fair admission.
