    Suspect arrested for arson in downtown Bakersfield fire

    BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Bakersfield Fire Department has arrested a suspect for felony arson charges, for a fire that occurred on Sept. 2, at the Toucan building in downtown.

    Michael Webber, the suspect, caused an estimated $750,000 in damage to the 8,500-square-foot structure at a commercial building located at 1030 19 Street, Downtown.

    Officials took Webber into custody on Friday, Sept. 6, around 11 a.m. for the charges of arson and additional offenses.

    The Bakersfield Fire Department is asking anyone with further information to contact Captain Wegis at 661-326-3699 or email arson@bakersfieldfire.us.
