    2nd arrest made in 2022 fatal Delano drive-by, deputies say

    TULARE COUNTY, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A second suspect has been arrested within a week in connection to a shooting that left two people dead, and two injured in 2022, the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office says.

    On Sunday, the sheriff’s office announced the arrest of 29-year-old Ivan Suarez Canul of Delano.

    Homicide Detectives say they were able to link him to the shootings based upon evidence found at the scene.

    On September 3 rd , deputies also arrested 33-year-old Marcos Antonio Mercado of Earlimart.

    On October 10, 2022 TCSO Deputies were called to a drive-by shooting in the area of County Line Road and Road 136 in Delano.

    It was there, they say, they found a man who had died after suffering from gunshot wounds.  Three additional victims with gunshot wounds arrived at the Delano Police Department soon after, two of which were airlifted to a local hospital.

    According to deputies, one of the airlifted victims ended up succumbing to their injuries. The victims, a 16-year-old boy and 21-year-old Ricardo Serrano, both of Delano, were identified as the decedents.

    Canul is currently in custody in Kern County on suspicion of several felony crimes. He is also being held on a Tulare County warrant on suspicion of two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder.
