Relay For Life 2025 season begins in Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life 2025 season now underway.

A kick-off event was held Saturday, Sept. 7 at Westside Church of Christ on Stockdale Highway. The event featured kid games including a cake walk. There are cancer resources, team fundraisers and music. Over the past 30 years, more than $25 million has been raised in Bakersfield for research, resources and for hope.

People even volunteer to get dunked to save lives.

“Without the cancer research and the drug I had to take for 5 years, I probably wouldn’t be here,” said Donna Hermann, a breast cancer survivor. “If everybody joins in and supports, it’s for a good cause and we will have more of these.”

The 34th annual Relay For Life is Saturday, May 3rd at the Kern County Fairgrounds.
