    Bakersfield College to host 8th Annual Panorama Creative Music Summit

    BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Bakersfield College’s Performing Arts Department has announced the 8th Annual Panorama Creative Music Summit, organized by the Jazz Studies program.

    The event will take place at the Edward Simonsen Performing Arts Center, starting Monday, Sept 23, with student workshops and ending with a free public concert on Wednesday, Sept 25.

    The Summit, a showcase for original music, will feature performances by visiting artists, local musicians, and BC faculty students, and alumni.

    Lauren Elizabeth Baba, the Los Angeles-based violinist and composer will perform alongside student musicians in the Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combos.

    “We are thrilled to have Lauren Elizabeth Baba as this year’s artist-in-residence,” said Kris Tiner, BC Professor and Director of Jazz Studies. Her innovative approach to composition spans commercial to experimental music. She will work closely with students on their original compositions and lead the Jazz Ensemble in several of her own works for big band.”
