BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A gradual cool down begins Tuesday, as temps will be dipping into the double digits by the end of the work week.

Expect a high of 100 today, air quality is expected to be moderate with an AQI of 80.

A major cooling trend starts Wednesday, with temps plummeting over 20 degrees from their peak during the heat wave.

By Wednesday, the region can look forward to temperatures in the mid-80s. As we transition to cooler weather, be prepared for some breezy conditions in the mountains and desert slopes, with winds gusting up to 45 mph, especially on Wednesday and Thursday.
