A severed pig’s head left at the doorstep of a home in Sacramento is being investigated as a potential hate crime.

Sacramento Police said that the family at the home reported it shortly after 7:30 a.m. on Monday. The home is in the North Natomas area of the city.

Screenshots shared with FOX40.com from someone who saw a post about it on the Nextdoor app show a door mat with the animal’s head on it and what appear to be several blood stains on the mat and surrounding ground.

The homeowner, who asked not to be named, shared with FOX40.com a Ring video that allegedly shows someone in what appears to be a hooded sweater approach the home entrance.

Police said investigators took photos of the incident and will investigate it as a potential hate crime, calling it behavior that is “abnormal.”
