Bakersfield Firefighters to be honored for heroic actions during 2023 Christmas Parade

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Bakersfield Fire Department will hold a ceremony on Friday, Sept. 13, to honor eight firefighters who acted heroically during the 2023 Bakersfield Christmas Parade.

The event will take place at 9 a.m. at Station 1, 2101 H Street, Downtown Bakersfield.

On Dec. 7, 2023, a vehicle struck pedestrian at the start of the parade, causing multi-casualty incident.

Five off duty Bakersfield City Firefighters and three Kern County Firefighters stepped in to help. The firefighters quick response rendered first aid to individuals injured during the crash.

The Bakersfield Fire Department invites the community to attend the ceremony and to celebrate the firefighters for protecting and serving the public.
