    El Grito celebration set for downtown Bakersfield

    BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Kern County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will host the 13th annual El Grito-Mexican Independence Day Celebration on Sunday, Sept. 15 in downtown Bakersfield.

    The event takes place from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Downtown Liberty Bell at Chester and Truxtun avenues.

    The 2024 Kern County Fair is just one week away

    The event will feature a street fair with food and drink booths, information booths, mariachi music, folklorico dancing, and live music.

    Organizers said attendees can also watch the live broadcast of the El Grito de Dolores ceremony from Mexico City.
