BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Greenfield Union School District has been in the hot seat as of late, following a bullying incident and a video showing a young boy locked out of a classroom.

Many anticipated those would be the topic of widespread discussion at last night’s board meeting. However, during Wednesday’s public comment, only one person addressed the incidents involving the district.

“You don’t want to brush away the actual issues that are at hand, the issues that are making kids feel not safe, the issues that are making staff feel like they can’t address kids feeling unsafe so although it was difficult I’m glad that I did it now I’m hoping there will actually be some changes and if not we will continue to advocate for that change,” former educator of Greenfield Union School District Kei Ashby said.

“Transparency is the key, everything needs to be out in the open, parents have the right to know what is going on with their children period. That’s the thing parent’s need to know, there should be transparency across the board,” attendee Mercy Pena said.
