Coroner identifies boy who drowned in the Kern River Aug. 3

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Kern County Coroner’s Office identified a teenager who drowned in the Kern River in August.

The coroners office says Alexis Teodoro Hernandez, a 15-year-old from Bakersfield, was swimming in the Kern River Aug. 3, when witnesses saw him go underneath the surface of the water.

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Team was deployed and found Hernandez at 12:30 p.m. that day in the river, where he was pronounced deceased.
