BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — No occupants were found after search and rescue crews were able to retrieve an SUV belonging to a missing Christina Murphy on Saturday, KCSO said.

After water levels in the Kern River dropped, search and rescue teams with the Kern County Sheriff’s Office were able to locate and retrieve a Toyota 4-Runner that belongs to a missing Ridgecrest nurse, Christina Murphy, on Sept. 14. No occupants were found in the submerged vehicle after teams were forced to use boats to access the car. Kern Valley and China Lake Search and Rescue officials deemed water levels safe for an attempted recovery of the vehicle on Sept. 14, but no divers were to be involved due to the water flow.

The water flow on Sept. 14 was reported at 700 cubic feet per second, compared to 1000 CFS on Sept. 10. Officials say the water level has dropped 20 feet since July 23.

This investigation is active and ongoing. The Kern County Sheriff’s Office urges the public to stay out of the Kern River.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Kern County Sheriff’s Office at 661-861-3110.

She was never in that car to begin with. Her body would have been found if it was. Check the seat belt and the location the seat is in. That car was left there this long for a reason.

One big question is was drivers seat belt buckeled or not🤔 It would seem if she was; there would be at least some of her there😪It will be interesting 🤔 to see how much info LE release. 😪💔🙏 Sadly this just will make it harder on her family not knowing her where abouts. Did any info say earlier; where exactly they had found a license plate etc of her vehicle 🤔
