    Cancer survivors, supporters get active during the Kern County Cancer Run

    BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — More than 1,200 participants and close to 200 cancer survivors showed up to the Park at River Walk Saturday morning for the 11th annual Kern County Cancer Run and Walk.

    The money raised on Saturday will help the Kern County Cancer Fund continue its mission of providing cancer support services to people here at home. The total amount of money raised as of newstime stands at $41,000, according to organizers.

    Founded in 2012, the Kern County Cancer Fund has committed more than $4,500,000 in support of cancer patients, with most of it going directly to medical bills and insurance payments.
