    Bakersfield College to kick off Hispanic Heritage Month with celebration event

    BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Bakersfield College is all set to kick off its Hispanic Heritage Month celebration on Sept. 16, 2024.

    The program will begin at 11 a.m. with an introduction to Bakersfield College President, followed by a welcome address from Dr. Jerry E. Fliger.

    ‘Party in the Garden’ to celebrate Central Park’s revitalization in Bakersfield

    The acknowledgment led by Program Manager Johnny Nieto, representing the Native American Student Support and Success program.

    The cultural celebration will feature performances by Mariachi mi Ciudad and the Bakersfield College dance group, Folklorico Ritmo y Sabor.

    Keynote speaker, Bakersfield College Professor Olivia Garcia, will address attendees in the Fireside Room at 11:45 a.m., followed by an appetizer bar featuring a “Taste of Hispanic Culture.”

    11th annual Walk Like MADD event to be held Saturday

    The event will conclude with a performance by Aztec dancers, Calpulli Ollincan Yolotl, at 1 p.m. Closing remarks will be delivered by EOPS Counselor Manuel Rosas.

    This appears to be the new Juneteenth with the media describing it as an Annual celebration. Search your memory! When has this ever been an "Annual Celebration"
